COURSE DESCRIPTION

The two-year Distant Education program of Diploma Certificate in Christian spirituality enables the student to obtain an academic qualification that indicates they have completed focused study in Christian Spirituality, giving particular attention to Christian mysticism. The Certificate consists of 40 academic credits.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • The certificate can serve as a credential of expertise in the Catholic Church in his/her service/job in the parish and the Church’s different sectors of service and ministry
  • This program deepens the formation of Christian Spirituality
  • The student will be able to draw upon this knowledge in addressing contemporary pastoral and social needs
  • This program helps to excel in Christian Leadership
  • Attends to growth in the contemplative dimension in day-to-day life 

ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT

  • The certificate program is open to Non-degree students 
  • Since the medium of language is English, an adequate knowledge of English is required
  • Should be disposed to attend scheduled online sessions and review. There may be 2or 3 hours of online classes for each subject on Tuesdays and Fridays at 4.30pm to 5.30pm (IST) 
  • Duration of the Course: two years
  • Target Group: Priests, Consecrated Men and Women, Lay Carmelites, any lay man or women engaged in Church/Parish ministry, and anyone who aspires to explore the spiritual depth
  • In the case of religious nuns, endorsement from the Responsible authority (Superior/Major superior) is necessary
  • Instead of examinations you may write an assignment paper for 2000-2250 (3-4 pages) for each subject
  • A Short thesis (15-20 pages) is to be written on any subject treated in this course and should be submitted to the office towards the end of the course
  • The Study Materials will be published on the Institute's website and you will have access to it by visiting it using your login ID and password
  • The duration of the program is two years, in four semesters; August 2026 to April 2028; the First Semester: from August to November; the Second Semester: from December to March.
  • Please fill out the application form by downloading the Institute’s website and affix a passport-size photo; it has to reach the Institute by 15 July 2026
